The Abbey of Saint-Martin-du-Canigou is a stunning medieval monastery located in the French commune of Casteil, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department. Founded in 1009 by Count Guifred II of Cerdanya, this Benedictine abbey is perched on a rocky spur in the Canigou mountain range, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The architecture is a beautiful example of Romanesque style, featuring a combination of robust stone construction and intricate carvings. Over the centuries, the abbey has undergone numerous restorations but retains its historical charm and spiritual significance.
