Acatenango is a stratovolcano located in Guatemala, part of the Central American Volcanic Arc. Standing at approximately 3,976 meters (13,045 feet), it is one of the highest peaks in Central America. Acatenango is known for its challenging hikes and stunning views, particularly of its neighboring volcano, Volcán de Fuego, which is one of the most active volcanoes in the region. The trek to the summit is a popular adventure for hikers and offers a unique opportunity to witness volcanic activity and panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscape.
