Aggstein Castle is a historic fortress located in Schönbühel-Aggsbach, Austria. Perched on a rocky outcrop high above the Danube River, the castle offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Wachau Valley. Originally constructed in the early 12th century, Aggstein has a storied past marked by periods of both grandeur and ruin. The castle is famous for legends of its ruthless medieval occupants, including tales of robber barons who controlled the river trade routes.
