The American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) in Baltimore, Maryland, is a unique cultural institution dedicated to showcasing visionary, self-taught, and outsider art. Opened in 1995, the museum features an eclectic collection of artworks created by individuals who are often outside the mainstream art world, including those with little or no formal training. The AVAM's exhibitions highlight the creativity and imagination of artists who express their personal visions through various mediums, from paintings and sculptures to kinetic art and mixed media installations. The museum's mission is to promote the recognition of intuitive, self-taught artistry and to celebrate the power of creativity in all its forms.
