The Amoreira Aqueduct in Elvas, Portugal, is a remarkable feat of engineering and an iconic example of 16th-17th century hydraulic architecture. Stretching over 8 kilometers, the aqueduct was constructed to address the town's water supply issues and features impressive arches that soar up to 31 meters high. Designed by Francisco de Arruda, who also worked on the famous Belém Tower in Lisbon, the aqueduct showcases a combination of Gothic and Renaissance styles. Its construction began in 1498 and was completed in 1622, and it remains a testament to the ingenuity and skill of its builders.
