The Astoria Column, located in Astoria, Oregon, is a towering monument that stands 125 feet tall atop Coxcomb Hill. Built in 1926, the column is adorned with a spiral frieze that depicts significant events in the history of the region, from the discovery of the Columbia River to the arrival of the railroad. Visitors can climb the 164-step spiral staircase inside the column to reach an observation deck, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the Columbia River, the Pacific Ocean, and the Cascade Range.
