Bab Bou Jeloud, also known as the Blue Gate, is one of the most iconic landmarks in Fez, Morocco. Constructed in 1913, this grand gateway serves as the main entrance to the ancient medina of Fez, one of the world's largest and most well-preserved medieval cities. The gate is renowned for its striking blue tilework on the exterior and green tiles on the interior, representing the colors of the city and Islam, respectively. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, Bab Bou Jeloud is a bustling hub, leading visitors into a labyrinth of narrow streets filled with vibrant souks, historic madrasas, and centuries-old mosques.
