Babylon, located near Hillah in modern-day Iraq, was once one of the most renowned cities of ancient Mesopotamia. Positioned along the Euphrates River, it served as the capital of the Neo-Babylonian Empire during the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar II in the 6th century BCE. Babylon is famously associated with the Hanging Gardens, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, although their existence remains a topic of debate among historians. The city was also known for its impressive walls and the Ishtar Gate, an iconic symbol adorned with images of dragons and bulls.
