Backbone State Park, located in Delaware County, Iowa, is the state's oldest state park, established in 1920. Named for its prominent geological feature, the "Devil's Backbone," the park boasts rugged terrain with limestone bluffs and dense forests. Visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, rock climbing, fishing, and camping. The park also features a picturesque lake, picnic areas, and historical structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
