Ballintubber Abbey, located near Castlebar in County Mayo, Ireland, is an ancient and historically significant religious site. Founded in 1216 by King Cathal Crovdearg O'Conor, the abbey has been continuously used for worship for over 800 years, making it one of the few Irish monastic sites with an unbroken history of religious services. The abbey is renowned for its beautiful architecture, including its Romanesque church, cloisters, and intricate carvings.
