Banzai Cliff is a historic and somber site located on the northern tip of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. It is renowned for its dramatic and steep cliffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean. The site gained historical significance during World War II, particularly in 1944, when many Japanese soldiers and civilians, facing imminent defeat by American forces, tragically chose to leap from the cliffs into the ocean rather than surrender. Today, Banzai Cliff serves as a poignant reminder of the war's impact and is a place where visitors come to pay their respects.
