The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, Mexico, is one of the most important religious sites in the country and a major pilgrimage destination for Catholics worldwide. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of the Americas, who is believed to have appeared to the indigenous peasant Juan Diego in 1531.
