Befreiungshalle in Kelheim, Germany, is a monumental neoclassical building situated on the Michelsberg hill. Commissioned by King Ludwig I of Bavaria and designed by architect Friedrich von Gärtner, it was completed by Leo von Klenze in 1863. The purpose of the hall was to commemorate the victories over Napoleon during the Wars of Liberation (1813-1815). The circular structure features 18 colossal statues representing the German tribes that participated in the wars, and its interior is adorned with a series of reliefs and inscriptions celebrating the unity and strength of the German people.
