The Bingham Canyon Mine, also known as the Kennecott Copper Mine, is a large open-pit mining operation located near Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. It is one of the world's largest and most productive copper mines. The mine has been in operation since 1906 and has produced millions of tons of copper, along with significant quantities of gold, silver, and molybdenum. The pit is over 0.75 miles deep and 2.5 miles wide, making it an impressive feat of engineering and mining technology. The mine is operated by Rio Tinto Group and is a significant contributor to the local and national economy.
