Blackwater Falls State Park, located in Tucker County, West Virginia, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities. The park gets its name from the amber-colored waters of the Blackwater River, which tumble over a 57-foot cascade, creating the iconic Blackwater Falls. The falls' dark hue comes from the tannic acid of fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping. The park also features numerous trails that offer breathtaking views of the rugged landscape, including the Lindy Point and Pendleton Point overlooks. In winter, the park transforms into a haven for cross-country skiing and sledding.
