Čachtice Castle, nestled in the picturesque hills of western Slovakia near the village of Čachtice, is a historic ruin with a notorious past. Originally built in the 13th century, it served as a strategic defensive fortress against invasions. The castle is perhaps most famously associated with the "Blood Countess" Elizabeth Báthory, who was reputed to have committed gruesome crimes within its walls in the early 17th century.
