About
Caño Cristales, often referred to as the "River of Five Colors" or the "Liquid Rainbow," is a remarkable river located in the Serranía de la Macarena province of Meta, Colombia. This stunning natural wonder is renowned for its vibrant display of colors, which include red, yellow, green, blue, and black. The phenomenon is primarily due to the presence of an aquatic plant called Macarenia clavigera, which turns bright red during the wet season, contrasting beautifully with the river's clear waters and the surrounding rocks. The best time to visit Caño Cristales is between June and November, when the river is at its most colorful.
