Carnuntum was a significant Roman city located in what is now Austria. It served as a major military and trading hub on the Danube frontier of the Roman Empire, roughly 40 kilometers east of present-day Vienna. Established in the 1st century AD, Carnuntum housed a legionary fortress, a civilian city, and an auxiliary fort. The site boasts impressive archaeological remains, including an amphitheater, public baths, and residential buildings.
