The Castle of Palmela, located in the Setúbal district of Portugal, is a historic fortress with origins dating back to ancient times. Perched on a strategic hilltop, it offers commanding views over the surrounding region, including the Serra da Arrábida and the Atlantic Ocean. The site has seen various phases of occupation, from the Roman period through the Moorish era, and was later fortified by the Portuguese during the Reconquista. The castle complex includes well-preserved walls, towers, and a convent, which was adapted into a pousada (historic hotel).
