Charleville-Mézières is a charming commune in the Ardennes department in northeastern France. Formed from the merger of the towns of Charleville and Mézières in 1966, it is known for its vibrant cultural scene and historical significance. The town is famously associated with the French poet Arthur Rimbaud, who spent part of his childhood and youth there, and visitors can explore the Rimbaud Museum dedicated to his life and works. Charleville-Mézières also boasts the stunning Place Ducale, a grand square that mirrors the Place des Vosges in Paris, and serves as a hub for local festivals and events, including the renowned World Festival of Puppet Theatres.
