Choquequirao, often referred to as the "sister city" of Machu Picchu, is a significant archaeological site located in the Andes of Peru. Nestled at an elevation of approximately 3,050 meters (10,010 feet) above sea level, it is situated in the Vilcabamba mountain range. The site is believed to have been built during the reign of the Inca emperor Pachacuti in the 15th century and later expanded by his successors. Choquequirao features impressive agricultural terraces, ceremonial plazas, and intricate stonework, showcasing the architectural and engineering prowess of the Inca civilization.
