The Church of the Holy Spirit, or Heiliggeistkirche, is a prominent Gothic church located in the heart of Heidelberg, Germany. Construction of the church began in the late 14th century and continued for over a century, resulting in a stunning architectural masterpiece characterized by its soaring spire and intricate stonework. The church has a rich history, having served both Catholic and Protestant congregations over the centuries. Notably, it once housed the Bibliotheca Palatina, one of the most important libraries of the Renaissance era, until it was seized and transported to the Vatican during the Thirty Years' War.
