The City Wall of San Juan in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a historic fortification system that once encircled the old city of San Juan. Built by the Spanish during the colonial period, these robust walls were constructed beginning in the early 16th century and took over 150 years to complete. The walls, made of thick sandstone and limestone, were designed to protect the city from enemy attacks and piracy. Today, sections of the original wall still stand, providing a tangible link to Puerto Rico's colonial past and offering panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
