Clingmans Dome Observation Tower is a prominent structure located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. The tower stands at an elevation of 6,643 feet, making it the highest point in Tennessee and the third-highest peak east of the Mississippi River. Constructed in 1959, the observation tower features a distinctive spiral ramp that ascends to a circular viewing platform, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. On clear days, visitors can see up to 100 miles in all directions.
