Cotopaxi is one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, located in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador. Standing at approximately 5,897 meters (19,347 feet) above sea level, it is renowned for its nearly symmetrical cone shape and its snow-capped peak. Cotopaxi is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire and has a history of significant eruptions, with the most recent activity occurring in the 21st century.
