Cristo Rei of Dili is a prominent statue located in Dili, the capital city of East Timor (Timor-Leste). Standing at 27 meters (88.6 feet) tall, this statue of Jesus Christ was inaugurated in 1996 and has since become one of the country's most iconic landmarks. It is situated atop a hill in the Fatucama Peninsula, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and the Banda Sea. The statue was a gift from the Indonesian government during the period when East Timor was under Indonesian rule. Visitors can reach the statue by climbing a staircase of 570 steps, which is also a popular route for pilgrims, especially during religious holidays.
