Dos Pilas is an ancient Maya city located in the Petén region of Guatemala. It was an important political and military center during the Late Classic period (circa 600-900 AD). The site is known for its elaborate hieroglyphic inscriptions and impressive architecture, including pyramids, palaces, and plazas. Dos Pilas played a significant role in the power struggles between various Maya city-states, particularly with its rival Tikal.
