The Douaumont Ossuary in Fleury-devant-Douaumont, France, is a poignant memorial dedicated to the soldiers who perished during the Battle of Verdun in World War I. Constructed between 1920 and 1932, the ossuary serves as the final resting place for the remains of more than 130,000 unidentified French and German soldiers. Its iconic tower, standing at 46 meters, offers panoramic views of the former battlefield and the surrounding countryside. The site also includes a cemetery with the graves of over 16,000 identified soldiers, making it one of the most significant World War I memorials in France.
