The Elephants Fountain in Chambéry, France, is a prominent landmark and a symbol of the city. Erected in 1838, the fountain was designed by the sculptor Pierre-Victor Sappey to honor the achievements of General Benoît de Boigne, a native of Chambéry who made significant contributions in India. The monument features four life-sized elephants arranged in a cross pattern, with their trunks forming the base of a central column. This column is topped with a statue of General de Boigne himself. The design not only celebrates the general's legacy but also serves as an artistic representation of the exotic lands where he made his mark.
