The Fenelon Place Elevator, often referred to as the Fourth Street Elevator, is a unique and historic funicular railway located in Dubuque, Iowa. Dating back to 1882, it is one of the world's shortest and steepest railways, originally constructed by a local banker who wanted a faster way to get to work from his home atop the bluff. The elevator provides a scenic ride up the hillside, offering passengers panoramic views of downtown Dubuque, the Mississippi River, and the tri-state area of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
