The Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, serves as the seat of government for the state of Florida. The complex includes the Historic Capitol, originally completed in 1845, and the modern Capitol building, which was completed in 1977. The Historic Capitol, with its distinctive red-and-white striped awnings and dome, has been restored to its 1902 appearance and functions as a museum. The modern Capitol, a 22-story tower, houses the executive and legislative offices, including the Governor's office and the chambers of the Florida Legislature.
