The Fort of Santa Catarina, located in Portimão, Portugal, is a historical fortress overlooking the mouth of the Arade River and the Atlantic Ocean. Constructed in the early 17th century during the reign of King Philip II of Portugal, the fort served as a defensive stronghold against pirates and invaders. The structure features sturdy stone walls, a small chapel dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria, and offers panoramic views of the surrounding coastline.
