Fort Warren is a historic fortification located on Georges Island at the entrance to Boston Harbor, Massachusetts. Constructed between 1833 and 1861, it played a crucial role during the American Civil War as a training camp for Union soldiers and a prison for Confederate officers and political prisoners. Named after Revolutionary War hero Dr. Joseph Warren, the fort is known for its well-preserved granite architecture and its strategic significance in coastal defense.
