Galibi is a village located on the northeastern coast of Suriname, near the border with French Guiana. It is predominantly inhabited by the indigenous Kalina people, also known as Caribs. The village is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and traditions, which include vibrant dances, music, and crafts. Galibi is also an important area for ecotourism, particularly for the nesting sites of endangered leatherback sea turtles. Visitors to the area can witness these magnificent creatures laying their eggs on the sandy beaches, especially during the nesting season from February to August.
