Gelati Monastery, located near Kutaisi in Georgia, is a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Founded in 1106 by King David IV, also known as David the Builder, the monastery served as a cultural and intellectual hub for centuries. It features an impressive main church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, adorned with exquisite frescoes and mosaics. The complex also includes several other churches and a bell tower, all surrounded by lush greenery.
