George Washington Carver National Monument, located near Diamond, Missouri, is a site dedicated to the life and achievements of the famed African American scientist and inventor George Washington Carver. Established in 1943, it was the first national monument dedicated to an African American and the first to honor someone other than a president. The monument includes Carver's boyhood home, a museum, a nature trail, and an interactive exhibit that highlights his contributions to agriculture, particularly his work with peanuts and crop rotation methods.
