Gorée

Gorée is a small island located off the coast of Dakar, Senegal. It is known for its historical significance as a major center in the Atlantic slave trade. The island is home to the House of Slaves (Maison des Esclaves), a museum and memorial that offers a poignant reminder of the inhumane conditions endured by enslaved Africans. Gorée Island is also recognized for its charming colonial architecture, narrow streets, and vibrant cultural scene.
