About

Göta Canal in Sweden is a remarkable feat of engineering, often referred to as the "Blue Ribbon" of Sweden. Constructed between 1810 and 1832 under the direction of Baltzar von Platen, this canal stretches approximately 190 kilometers (about 118 miles) and connects the Baltic Sea with the North Sea. The canal features 58 locks and passes through a scenic landscape of lakes, rivers, and charming towns.
