Grand-Bassam is a historic town and a popular tourist destination located in southeastern Ivory Coast, near the Gulf of Guinea. It was the first capital of the French colony of Côte d'Ivoire from 1893 until 1896. The town is known for its colonial architecture, vibrant cultural heritage, and beautiful beaches. In 2012, its historic quarter was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its well-preserved colonial buildings and its significance in the history of the country.
