Hippo Regius, located in modern-day Annaba, Algeria, was an important city in the Roman province of Numidia. It served as a significant center of early Christianity, being the site where St. Augustine of Hippo served as bishop for 34 years. The ruins of Hippo Regius include impressive remnants of Roman architecture such as baths, basilicas, and a forum.
