The House of Slaves, located on Gorée Island off the coast of Dakar, Senegal, is a poignant museum and memorial to the Atlantic slave trade. Built in 1776, the building served as one of the final departure points for slaves being transported to the Americas. The site features the infamous "Door of No Return," a narrow passage through which countless enslaved Africans passed, symbolizing their irreversible journey into slavery.
