Houska Castle, located in Blatce, Czech Republic, is an early Gothic castle shrouded in mystery and legend. Built in the 13th century during the reign of Ottokar II of Bohemia, it is reputed to cover a "gateway to Hell," with folklore suggesting the castle was constructed to seal a bottomless pit from which demonic creatures emerged. The castle's architecture is notable for its lack of fortifications and strategic features, leading some to believe its primary purpose was to contain the evil within.
