Itasca State Park

Itasca State Park, located in northern Minnesota, is a historic and scenic park known as the source of the Mississippi River. Established in 1891, it is the oldest state park in Minnesota and covers over 32,000 acres of pristine wilderness. Visitors can explore the headwaters of the Mississippi River, where they can walk across the river as it begins its 2,552-mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico. The park features more than 100 lakes, numerous hiking trails, and diverse wildlife, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts.
