Ivolginsky Datsan is a prominent Buddhist monastery located near Ulan-Ude, Russia. Founded in 1945, it serves as the center of Buddhism in Russia and the residence of the Khambo Lama, the head of the Buddhists in Russia. The datsan is notable for its traditional Tibetan-style architecture and vibrant cultural activities. It houses several temples, a university, a museum, and a library with a vast collection of Buddhist texts. The monastery is also famous for preserving the incorruptible body of Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov, a Buryat Buddhist lama who passed away in 1927.
