Iximche is a pre-Columbian archaeological site located in the highlands of Guatemala. It was the capital of the Kaqchikel Maya from 1470 until its abandonment in 1524. The site features impressive ruins, including temples, palaces, and ceremonial platforms, and provides valuable insights into Maya civilization. Iximche also played a significant role during the Spanish conquest, as it was the first capital of the Spanish colony in Central America.
