Izumo-taisha, located in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture, Japan, is one of the country's oldest and most important Shinto shrines. It is dedicated to Ōkuninushi, the deity of nation-building, agriculture, and medicine. The shrine is renowned for its distinctive architecture, particularly the massive shimenawa (sacred straw rope) that adorns its entrance.
