Janitzio is the largest of five islands in Lake Pátzcuaro in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. Renowned for its vibrant cultural heritage, Janitzio is particularly famous for its Day of the Dead celebrations, which attract numerous visitors each year. The island is characterized by its steep, winding streets lined with traditional Purépecha crafts and foods. At its summit stands a towering statue of José María Morelos, a hero of Mexican independence, which offers panoramic views of the lake and surrounding areas.
