The Jet d'Eau is one of Geneva's most iconic landmarks, situated where Lake Geneva empties into the Rhône River. This impressive water fountain shoots water 140 meters (460 feet) into the air, making it one of the tallest in the world. Originally installed in 1886 as a safety valve for a hydraulic power network, it has since become a symbol of the city. The Jet d'Eau operates daily and is illuminated at night, creating a spectacular sight against the backdrop of the Alps and the Jura mountains.
