Khoton Lake is a picturesque freshwater lake located in the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park in western Mongolia, near the border with China. Nestled at an elevation of approximately 2,073 meters (6,801 feet) above sea level, the lake is surrounded by stunning mountainous landscapes and rich biodiversity. The waters of Khoton Lake are fed by glaciers and snowmelt from the surrounding Altai Mountains, making it a vital source of freshwater for the region's flora and fauna. The area around the lake is sparsely populated, primarily inhabited by nomadic herders who graze their livestock on the lush summer pastures.
