Originally constructed in 1340 by Yūki Chikatomo, it was later rebuilt in 1627 by Niwa Nagashige. The castle played a significant role during the Boshin War in the late 19th century, where it was heavily damaged. Today, Komine Castle has been partially reconstructed and stands as a symbol of Shirakawa's cultural heritage.
